Do I need to have ADHD to access your counselling services? Do you offer counselling for other concerns?
You do not need to have ADHD to access our counselling services! We offer a individual, couples, and family counselling for a wide range of presenting concerns. We've helped patients experiencing relationship issues, grief and loss, trauma recovery, substance use, and many more concerns. All of our Clincal Counsellors have their own specialty interests and niches, so I recommend reading their bio on our booking page for information on a specific provider.
Can I book an online virtual ADHD assessment?
YES!
Absolutely! Please click the "Book Now" button. You will be directed to our online booking system where you can book an online virtual assessment. We recommend booking at least 1 week in advance to allow yourself sufficient time to complete your questionnaires and gather any necessary documents. How much does an online virtual adult ADHD assessment cost?

The 1st Step and 2nd Step are essential to the Adult Assessment process.
First Step: $450
In this step, you will have a comprehensive assessment with a qualified Nurse Practitioner. The clinician will review your intake forms, conduct a clinical interview, observe your behavior, and utilize additional assessment methods to evaluate your condition. Based on this thorough evaluation, the Nurse Practitioner will determine whether you meet the DSM-5 criteria for an ADHD diagnosis.
Second Step: $85
You will meet with your medical professional again, typically 1 to 2 weeks after completing any additional testing ordered during the first step. At this follow-up appointment, your provider will present a personalized treatment plan tailored to your needs. This plan may include medications, psychotherapy, behavioral interventions, and/or workplace or educational accommodations. Approximately one to two weeks after this visit, you will receive an official ADHD Assessment Report outlining your diagnosis and treatment recommendations. You can share this report with your family doctor or a walk-in clinic to pursue treatment, or choose to continue your care with our clinic.
Third Step: $85
These optional appointments are scheduled on an as-needed basis. If you begin treatment with Sparrow ADHD & Wellness, you will continue with regular follow-up appointments during the Third Step. Typically, these appointments start every two weeks and gradually extend to every three months. During these visits, your medical professional will review your medications and discuss how your treatment plan is progressing and being integrated into your daily life.
It is important to note that some complex adult cases may require an extended assessment session. This additional time is billed at $250/hour and typically does not exceed 1 hour. This can be necessary in cases where there are complex comorbidities, or when the assessment cannot be completed in the alloted time.
Do you prescribe ADHD medications?
Yes! We prescribe ADHD medications when pharmaceutical intervention is appropriate and medically safe.
Patients who have been assessed by our clinic, received a confirmed ADHD diagnosis, and completed the necessary medical tests to ensure fitness for medication, are eligible for medication management. If our medical professionals determine that medication could be beneficial, we can provide ongoing medication management if the patient chooses. Patients are required to attend regular follow-up appointments to monitor treatment effectiveness and ensure the medication continues to improve their quality of life.
If medication is deemed inappropriate, or if a healthcare provider in the community is better suited to manage medication, we may defer prescribing and/or provide you with your ADHD assessment report to share with a Primary Care Provider for further discussion.
What kind of medical professionals do you have at the clinic?
At Sparrow, we have a team consisting of Nurse Practitoners and Clinical Counsellors. ADHD assessments are performed by Nurse Practitioners (NPs) who have the appropriate education, training, qualifications, and registration to assess, diagnose, and treat ADHD, and prescribe ADHD medications. Our team of Clincal Counsellors are ready and able to assist with a wide range of presenting concerns, including ADHD coaching, post-partum depression, substance use, grief and loss, surviving narcissistic abuse, and many more.
What can I use my ADHD assessment report for?
Your ADHD assessment report is an important and comprehensive medical document that confirms your ADHD diagnosis and can serve many practical purposes. If you receive a diagnosis, this report provides official confirmation from a qualified professional and can be used to support various aspects of your personal, educational, and professional life. Some common uses of your ADHD report include:
- Facilitating access to medication management through your Primary Care Provider or walk-in clinics
- Supporting requests for workplace accommodations to help you perform at your best
- Providing documentation for educational accommodations, including Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Assisting with applications for the Disability Tax Credit and other government benefits for eligible individuals
- Supporting applications for student financial aid and academic accommodations (Appendix 8, LSAT, etc.)
- Helping guide psychotherapy or coaching tailored to your specific needs
- Providing documentation for disability support services
- Serving as a tool for self-advocacy in various settings, ensuring you receive the understanding and support you deserve
Having a detailed ADHD report empowers you to access the resources and supports necessary for managing your diagnosis effectively and improving your overall quality of life.
How long does the ADHD assessment process take?
About 2 - 4 weeks
We recommend booking your appointment at least one week in advance to allow time for completing your questionnaires and gathering any supporting documents, such as report cards, psycho-social reports, or other relevant materials.
The online ADHD assessment process typically takes between 2 to 4 weeks.
During your first appointment, we will review your intake forms, conduct a clinical interview, and make behavioral observations. At this appointment, we can usually determine whether you meet the DSM-5 criteria for an ADHD diagnosis*. If a diagnosis is indicated, we may recommend additional testing to be completed between your first and second appointments to further support the diagnosis and help determine if medication treatment is appropriate.
If a diagnosis is confirmed and all additional testing and questionnaires are received, we will schedule your second appointment—typically about 2 weeks after the first. During this session, we will present and review a personalized treatment plan. You will have the option to begin treatment with our clinic or transfer your care to a family doctor. About one to two weeks following this appointment, you will receive your ADHD Assessment Report.
Afterward, you may choose to schedule follow-up appointments for medication management, to assess lifestyle changes, or to review behavioral interventions implemented as part of your treatment.
Going forward, follow-up appointments can be arranged as needed, typically every 1 to 3 months, to renew medications and/or see a Clinical Counsellor, according to your personalized treatment plan.
*Please note that some assessments may require an additional appointment to complete the assessment. Additional appointments will incur an additional cost.
Can NPs diagnose and treat ADHD?
Yes!
Nurse Practitioners (NPs) have a very similar scope of practice as MDs (family doctors). They can make diagnoses, manage medications, and more. They can even open their own practice. Nurse Practitioners have a Masters degree in the Science of Nursing, meaning they attend 6-8+ years of medical education, on top of mandatory work as a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practial Nurse in the community between their Bachelor degree and Master's / Doctoral degree.
Our NPs are trained and qualified to determine an ADHD diagnosis, and they are capable of prescribing ADHD medications, as appropriate.

Do you provide Child ADHD Assessments?
Absolutely!
At Sparrow ADHD & Wellness, we do see children for online Child ADHD Assessments. We understand the importance of determining an ADHD diagnosis earlier, when symptoms begin to present themselves. This allows treatment to commence as soon as possible, with the ultimate goal of improving long-term quality of life. When a diagnosis is determined in a child, the child can begin ADHD coaching, ADHD coping and learning, behavioural interventions, and, if appropriate, medications. With the help of parents, teachers, and other loves ones, we can build a strong foundation of behavioural understanding, coping, and self-love.
Are ADHD Assessments covered by Extended Benefits?
Our ADHD Assessments are typically not covered by Extended Benefits or private insurance, though some individuals have success claiming our services on a "Health Spending Account" through their benefit plan. To be sure, we recommend reaching out directly to your insurance provider to inquire whether an ADHD Assessment with a Nurse Practitioner would be covered under your plan. We are happy to provide any additional information as needed.
What is the age range for an ADHD Assessment?
Adult ADHD Assessments: Most adults aged 19 to 62 years old are suitable for our Adult ADHD Assessments.
Child ADHD Assessments: Most children aged 8 to 18 years old are suitable for our Child ADHD Assessments.
In cases where there are signiciant comorbidities, we recommend contacting our office prior to scheduling an appointment to further discuss the case's suitability and form a plan.
Individuals who fall outside of the age range of 8 to 62 years old may be considered a specialty population, and may need to be referred to a clinic that specializes in this population.
Please note that there are cases where a 19 or 20 year-old may require a Child ADHD Assessment based on their situation and symptoms. This is determined on a case-by-case basis.
When will I receive the Assessment Report?
Assessment Reports are received approximately 1 to 2 weeks after the 2nd Step appointment.
This timeline depends on how soon the client completes the various requested test results after their 1st Step.
Once the client has arrange a 2nd Step appointment to review the treatment plan, they can expect to receive their report about 1 to 2 weeks later.
Please note that Child ADHD Assessment Reports generally take longer to be completed.
